Responsibilities:
  1. Performs computer and manual treatment planning as prescribed by the physician for patients requiring radiation therapy treatments. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
  1. Calculates all initial treatment doses and reviews calculations of treatment and doses performed by the therapist. Monitors patient's dosimetric calculations and ensures the safe administration of therapeutic radiation treatments.
  1. Works collaboratively with staff and physicians to develop treatment plans, discuss diagnosis and desired treatment results. May act as a dosimetry resource for staff. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes.
  1. Responsible for the review of diagnostic information to produce the development of an optimized treatment plan. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation.
  1. Participates as required in all aspects of radiation therapy planning and treatments Performs and/or assists in radiographic simulations. Responsible for the fabrication of shielding blocks.
  1. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to radiation safety policies. Ensures the safe receipt, administration, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials utilizing ALARA principles.
  1. Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to radiology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.
  1. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department by performing other duties as assigned.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

Qualifications:

Certified as a Medical Dosimetrist by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB). BLS Certification.

Knowledge as typically obtained through 2 years of experience in dosimetry. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and solve problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in related field preferred.
