The Director of Medical Staff Services is a leadership position accountable for the work of staff in the areas of Medical Staff Credentialing and Payor Enrollment & Revalidation.

Overview of Responsibilities:
  • Completes specific projects as assigned by the members of the Medical Staff, and other members of the Management Team.
  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans and standards consistent with the administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Acts as a resource and liaison to all medical staff.
  • Participates in the administration of the credentialing/enrollment software system.
  • Effectively collaborates with and services as the primary point of contact for all Reid Health enrollment stakeholders including senior leaders, managed care, central billing office, independent providers, administration staff, and hospital departments.
  • Conducts regular communication with payors including quarterly distribution and reconciliation of provider roster.
  • Creates and fosters a culture of customer service within the department to better serve all stakeholders.
  • Creates training programs, policies and processes to ensure best practice adoption.


Education/Experience:

Education Required: Associates or higher degree in business, leadership or healthcare related field.

Education Preferred: Bachelors or Master Degree with a major in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Leadership or a closely related field preferred

Experience Required:A minimum of two years management experience in healthcare of related field managing in an office environment preferred.

Experience Preferred:Medical Staff credentialing and/or management of payor enrollment experience preferred.

Certifications:Certification (CPCS or CPMSM) through the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) required or ability to attain within the recommended guideline by NAMSS.

Other:Must maintain awareness and knowledge of all safety guidelines. Knowledgeable of and participates in QA & QA & I and LEAN activities.
