Co-Principal Westbrook High School, One Year Only
Join the established administrative team at Westbrook High School as a Co-Principal for the 2024-25 school year. This is a full time, one year only position, replacing a veteran Co-Principal who will be on an academic sabbatical. The position begins on July 1, 2024. In our leadership model, now in its fifth successful year, three Co-Principal work collaboratively, each with unique responsibilities, to provide leadership of our dynamic school community. Major Responsibilities include:
Student Support:
Oversee student discipline, behavior management, and student support services and participate in BARR meetings, an initiative of which WHS is a National School of Excellence.
Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and service providers to address the diverse needs of students
Implement initiatives to promote student engagement, attendance, and academic success.
Academic Excellence:
Support curriculum development, implementation, and assessment in alignment with state standards and district goals.
Provide instructional leadership, supervision and evaluation, and professional development to support faculty, enhance teaching practices, and student learning outcomes.
Monitor student progress and implement interventions to support struggling students through BARR.
Equity and Opportunity:
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the school community.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to create a welcoming and inclusive school culture.
Ensure equitable access to resources, opportunities, and support services for all students.
Administrative Leadership:
Collaborate with district leaders, other principals and directors, teacher leaders, and faculty to develop and implement school policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Coordinate and oversee school-wide events, activities, and programs.
Manage budgetary resources effectively and efficiently.
Community Engagement:
Build and maintain positive relationships with administrative colleagues, students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders through various channels, including meetings, newsletters, and social media.
Collaborate with community partners to enhance educational opportunities for students.
A Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or a related field, demonstrated leadership in a school setting, and valid Maine Building Principal certification are required. Additionally, the successful candidate will have experiece working with and a deep committment to adolescent students; a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and experience working in a diverse school setting; strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills; and deep knowledge of teaching and learning.

Westbrook High School is proud to serve the City of Westbrook. Our learners represent 27 different countries of origin and speak over 15 languages other than English. The needs of individual learners are recognized and met through the work of our exemplary staff and diverse programming. We offer a wide range of extracurricular clubs, activities and athletic teams. Westbrook High School values student voice, welcomes all students, and is committed to helping students realize and achieve their dreams. Our staff endeavors to build positive relationships with students to promote, support, and enhance learning. We collaborate in teams at the freshmen and sophomore levels to provide a social emotional curriculum, assess student data, implement interventions, and talk about best practice. This allows us to prepare students for a more individualized course of study during their junior and senior years. Westbrook High School is a BARR School of Excellence and offers diploma endorsements in STEM, Visual & Performing Arts, and Education. We also offer programming to prepare students for Westbrook Regional Technical Center and PATHS. Finally, we are proud to prepare students for the Seal of Bi-Literacy through our Multilingual Learner programming and our Modern and Classical Language courses. Westbrook High School has become a springboard for students to join the military, enter the workforce or go onto college through relevant and rigorous coursework and the guidance of our Aspirations Counselor and Student Services Department.
