Elma specializes in the design and manufacture of high-quality electronic metallic cabinets, vertical racks, and enclosures. We are known for building highly rugged cabinet solutions to meet defense standards such as MIL-STD-901D and 810F, and IP-rated industrial requirements. Many of our cabinets have been tested to meet seismic shock and vibration including to NEBS Level 3 zone 4 .
Buyer- Metals (senior level)
We have an excellent opportunity for an accomplished
Senior
Buyer
to join our team in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Our ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge, and understanding of sheet metal products, and working independently to manage multiple time-sensitive duties. This position will report to the Purchasing Manager.
Responsibilities:
Create, place, and manage purchase orders, communicate changes or updates on delivery to production.
Purchase for MRP, NPI and requisition requests.
Manage and prioritize workload independently on a daily and weekly basis.
Begins initial set up of a new vendor. Including acquiring vendor certifications and surveys to analyze supplier qualifications.
Leads negotiation of their commodities to achieve lower cost, while keeping risk low.
Executes continuous improvement activities and works closely with suppliers to achieve improvements where possible.
Determines fair pricing by using previous company purchases and obtaining multiple quotes.
Perform ongoing supplier management to ensure contract terms, conditions and performance of vendors are compliant.
Develop and manage key relationships with vendors to ensure Elma’s success.
Works with internal clients to resolve supplier-related business issues
Is a trusted advisor to our Engineering and Sales team
Is required to resolve non-conformances of their assigned commodities with the vendor.
Conduct inventory analysis for excess and obsolete materials.
Processes orders for simple and complex outplant processes/services. Including managing schedule, transportation and flow of products in and out of Elma inventory with Elma employees and Vendor.
Qualities:
Utilizes professional and technical concepts in accordance with Company objectives to solve difficult and complex problems in creative and effective ways
Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods for obtaining results utilizing critical thinking and evaluation skills
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and familiarization with imperial measurement systems
Minimum of 5 years of procurement/purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment with extensive experience in metal products
Must have sourcing / negotiation and supplier development experience
Good working knowledge of ERP system (experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus)
Advanced Excel skills including formulae and functions
Automotive or fabrication manufacturing industry preferred
Preferred Education/Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience
Lean Six Sigma, APICS and/or CPM certification
