The Daily Management System (DMS) Practitioner is one of the key business improvement drivers within the Consumer Operations Team. WestRock Way , COE and DMS are the foundations that will enable our sites to heights of performance and business results improvement necessary to accomplish our P21 goals and beyond (journey to World Class). The DMS Practitioner will work with the Transformational Initiatives DMS Director, OPEX Directors and team (BB/Practitioners) and Site teams to execute a synchronized approach to DMS deployment across our Consumer Sites.

The DMS Practitioner will oversee the execution of the WestRock Enterprise DMS deployment model (Consumer DMS Playbook), by coaching Consumer teams on implementing DMS Best Practices, evaluating effectiveness of developed DMS components, and assisting the sites to close gaps. The DMS Practitioner will also gather content and best practices across the Consumer Sites, deliver DMS training material, standard work, templates, communication guides, and manage all documents linked to the DMS Playbook.

Additionally, with a Lean Six Sigma skillset, this role could support multiple process improvement teams concurrently utilizing the Lean-Six Sigma Methodology to measurably improve operational and/or business processes. Must work effectively with leadership and the financial community to translate sustainable process improvements into budgeted financial improvements (net productivity impact). May be required to coach and/or support Green Belts and Part Time Black Belts on their kaizen or DMAIC projects.

The scope of this role is to deploy the Consumer DMS program throughout all WestRock Consumer sites. The DMS Practitioner will ensure all sites teams and support groups have the knowledge, tools, and processes necessary to achieve Levels of proficiency in all DMS components (Foundational, Intermediate, Advanced) The Effectiveness of DMS development at each site will be measured by improvements and trending for P21 Operational Metrics and building a healthy continuous improvement culture aligned with divisional opex team. The DMS Deployment Manager will have a hard-line reporting relationship to the OPEX DMS Transformational Initiative Director, along with a strong relationship to the other key members of the Site Leadership and Divisional OPEX Teams.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Routinely visit consumer sites to provide hands on coaching, assistance, and training on implementation of DMS best practices and execution of DMS deliverables through the journey (Foundational, intermediate, Advanced).

  • Gather existing best practices from all Consumer sites and incorporate them into the DMS Playbook (Evolution).

  • Facilitate Playbook content creation sessions with operational leaders across the Division: GMs, Ops Managers, Supervisors, etc.

  • Coordinate DMS round table and training events.

  • Create, optimize, and oversee DMS internal and external auditing program by implementing standard work for auditors at all Consumer Operations and OPEX Levels utilizing the DMS Health Check Tool.

  • Assist Director for Transformational Initiatives (DMS) with project planning, preparation, and execution through each of the DMS NA Regional Support Teams.

  • Oversee DMS plan execution and escalate roadblocks encountered during site visits or progress calls to DMS Program Manager.

  • Assist Regional Master Black Belts (MBBs), as they guide individual consumer sites in scoping out their DMS deployment and development plans appropriately (scope right sizing).

  • Assist divisional Opex and site DMS Coordinators to schedule development events, engage SMEs as needed, and coordinate onsite working sessions with consumer site teams.

  • Attend periodic DMS report-outs with divisional opex and their respective site Leadership Teams.

  • Document success stories in SharePoint & MS-Teams and share within the Consumer network.

  • Be a collaborator and business partner to the consumer sites Operations site team, divisional Opex Team.


What you need to succeed:

  • BS/BA; Technical Degree and MBA Preferred.

  • Black Belt Certified

  • 7+ relevant years of industry experience with progressive growth in leadership and business impact (strong business acumen).

  • Enthusiastic about DMS, Continuous Improvement, and ability to make others successful.

  • Proven ability to influence, lead, and facilitate cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.

  • Understanding of core project management fundamentals and tools.

  • Proficient with teams, mural, Microsoft Office Suite, and other advanced computer skills.

  • Function as both a team player and an independent leader, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Results oriented and innovative, with a commitment to excellence.

  • Manages and drives change.

  • Ability to travel 80%, domestic.
