Description The primary responsibility of the Site Engineer is to ensure delivery of target production output through continuous operation of all plant equipment and to provide support for the production facility. This includes identifying opportunities for process optimization, recommending process design changes, and assisting with the implementation and start-up of those recommendations. Job Details Role Specific Responsibilities: Maintains, supports and delivers production output for assigned area (s) Oversees all aspects of engineering for the site (with assistance from the group/third parties) around mechanical, electrical, control, instrumentation, structural, and process Provides technical support for the manufacturing processes, including process investigations, process changes, and technical transfer and scale up of new product introductions Provides project and process engineering support for technical projects. Associated tasks include equipment specification and procurement, process development, drawing development, protocol development and execution Optimizes production yields and equipment utilization Minimizes raw material losses, waste generation, and utility consumption Assists in developing cost estimates for repair work and capital work Ensures the instrumentation, control systems, and documentation (and validation or PSM where required) can support the plant's quality and production Creates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new equipment/processes, as well as update of existing SOPs Collects, analyzes, and reports data related to production capabilities and plant operations Completes detailed Material and Energy Balances for new or modified processes Modifies/Prepares new Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's) Sizes and specify new process equipment, existing equipment, Safety Relief Devices, and vent systems for new capacities or services Works with plant personnel and corporate resources (as needed) to troubleshoot plant operation issues, especially when associated with project implementations Works on Continuous Improvement Projects as identified or needed. Areas of emphasis include manufacturing cost reduction, capacity improvements/cycle time reductions, energy and waste reduction, and process reliability Assists with regulatory compliance, permitting of plant facilities, and regulatory compliance of contractors Completes other project work as necessary to support safe operations Compliance: Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times Problem Solving and Innovation: Active participation in continuous improvement activities Participates in problem-solving Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members Exercises autonomy and judgement subject to overall direction or guidance Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering 0-2 years of experience in process design or process engineering, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment Experience working with process control systems, such as Delta V Fundamental knowledge of continuous and batch chemical operations including reaction, distillation, heat exchange, solids handling, utilities, and process control Familiarity with Six Sigma Processes Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to flex own style as needed to influence and drive results Self-motivated and ability to work within a fast-paced environment Critical thinking skills and analytical abilities which allow assessments of situations and opportunities Flexibility to work in both office and operating plant environments on a wide variety of activities independently or as part of a team Demonstrated knowledge in methodologies and tools including PHA/HAZOP, risk ranking, LOPA, Relief System Design, root cause analysis, mechanical integrity, management of change, pre-startup safety review, and additional process safety management requirements and methods Embodies the core values of Aurorium: credible:keeps their word and honors their commitments, acts with integrity, and holds themselves accountable to their decisions and actions outcome-oriented:adheres to an unparalleled standard of excellence in everything they do, to deliver results with real impact driven:passionate about delivering authentic, world-class experiences that engage customers and inspire greatness empowered accountability:empowered to achieve common goals and accountable for delivering performances and results that exceed standard. The base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
