Paws With A Cause® (PAWS) is looking to add to our Breeding Department Team We are looking to hire a Canine Care Team Member who will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the high standards of health and welfare care for the dogs and puppies in our Breeding Center. Position Summary

The Canine Care Team Member is primarily responsible for monitoring and maintaining high standards of health, welfare and care for the dogs and puppies in the Breeding Center. This position will also be working closely with the Assistant Breeding Coordinator, Breeding Coordinator and the Breeding Specialist in daily operation of the kennels, clearances, enrichment and breeding of dogs and care and enrichment of puppies at PAWS.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Primarily responsible for kennel care of breeding and clearance kennels and break yards, including power washing, mopping, general maintenance
  2. Primarily responsible for cleaning and maintenance of puppy rooms, enrichment room, puppy playground and breeding room and daily walk through of kennels with appropriate documentation and reporting issues, inventory, etc.
  3. Monitor dog health (including but not limited to weight, diet, medication, and surgical recovery) and record information appropriately for the rest of the team
  4. Care and enrichment of adult breeding dogs at PAWS for boarding/clearances, including daily body exams, feedings, breaking dogs, physical conditioning and mental stimulation throughout the day
  5. Responsible for grooming of the dogs and puppies, including bathing, coat brush out, teeth brush, nails, weight check, and daily upkeep of Grooming Room
  6. Support volunteers with puppy and breeding dog enrichment programs
  7. Draw blood, operate medical equipment, and administer medications as directed by the Veterinarian, Breeding Program Coordinator or Breeding Specialist
  8. Back up support for Breeding Specialist for the breeding of dogs in the PAWS breeding program;
  9. Weekend kennel care and care and enrichment of all dogs in the PAWS Breeding kennels and puppy rooms;
  10. Other duties as assigned
Non-Essential Responsibilities
  1. Set-up kennels for dogs boarding at PAWS
  2. Maintain accessibility and appearance around the breeding and vet departments at the direction of the Assistant Breeding Coordinator by trash removal and disposal and salting/scraping and snow removal as necessary
  3. Handling of dogs to assist the Breeding Department as needed
  4. Sanitization, inspection, and inventory of whelping equipment and other equipment returned from Breeding Host Homes

Supervision Received
  • Specific Direction - Follows established work procedures. Receives periodic checks for performance. Refers unique questions/conditions to immediate supervisor

Requirements

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays
