The Dean of Students will collaborate with the school director to implement the school's emotional intelligence framework and cultural plans, coordinating Functional Assessments of Behavior and Behavior Intervention Plans to address students' inappropriate behaviors and facilitate academic success. They will support classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies, lead Townhall meetings, and student activities while providing support, monitoring, and training using behavior management techniques, intervention strategies, coping skills, and problem-solving for students with behavioral challenges.

Responsibilities:

The Dean of Students for [K-4] or [5-8] will support the school's culture initiatives with positive behavior supports and programs. Additionally, the Behavior Intervention Specialist will work directly with identified students to improve behaviors significantly, thereby enhancing their academic performance. This includes students identified in Child Study and those requiring behavior intervention and support. Under the supervision of the school director and the Dean of Students, they will provide diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for targeted students.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Educate parents and teachers on the Behavior Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct.
Administer Pre and Post Tests of Student Code of Conduct and maintain files as evidence.
Address all Discipline Referrals and student misbehaviors by applying the Behavior Management Plan incentives and consequences.
Implement specialized positive behavior interventions for student success: explicit, intensive, accelerated, and providing ample practice.
Review behavior referrals, enter consequences into Kickboard, and generate weekly data reports.
Manage out-of-class resets by providing Think Sheets and behavior modification strategies to students.
Maintain daily Discipline Trackers and provide daily feedback and updates to teachers.
Monitor student attendance, send attendance letters for 3, 5, 7 absences.
Maintain attendance trackers and conduct home visits as needed.
Notify parents of out-of-class resets and hold parent conferences.
Keep records of student, teacher, and parent conferences.
Recognize a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors.
Collaborate with building administrators to promote positive student behavior through professional development and support for teachers.
Supervise students to ensure a safe, nurturing environment.
Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions.
Participate in building-level SST team and/or grade level meetings.
Consult with school guidance counselor, SEI Program Manager, school directors, principal, and teachers.
Adhere to safety policies and procedures; report unsafe activities to supervisor.
Engage in proactive team efforts to achieve District, building, departmental, and/or grade level goals.
Foster positive relationships with families and collaborate with the school leadership team to provide ongoing programming reflecting families' needs and interests.

Skills & Requirements
Education/Certification

Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
Social work experience preferred.
Knowledge of school district organization, operations, and administrative policies.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with proficiency in internet and email usage.
Possesses a calm and patient demeanor.
Additionally, responsible for administrative duties including maintaining reports, student folders, and databases, as well as communication with parents and officials.
