Summary:

Our NPI Engineering Manager will provide engineering leadership and direct the new product introduction activities for all new contract products. This individual will supervise direct reports, provide technical direction, drive NPI activities, plan project schedules, coordinate project resources and testing, maintain project metrics, track project budgets, and implement/maintain rigor around project documentation.

The individual is part of the engineering leadership team and is responsible for collaboration with the appropriate teams in the manufacturing facilities to ensure they are prepared for the launch of each new product.

Requirements

Primary responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:
  • Manage a team of engineers, CNC programmers, project managers, and engineering interns to drive new product growth.
  • Provide technical direction and prioritization of engineering resources to support contract products and other projects outlined by strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze and track key performance metrics, develop activities, and action plans to improve metrics, establish resources and schedules, and drive activities to completion.
  • Establish coordination with the production teams to effectively plan and forecast the development schedule during the NPI process.
  • Review and track internal status of customer product. Participate in internal production meetings for assigned work center areas and communicate status changes to program management in a timely manner.
  • Identify bottlenecks to appropriate manufacturing managers and supervisors based on expected project schedules.
  • Interacts with all levels of employees including but not limited to shop floor, supervisors, sales team, managers, engineers, customers, and purchasing on a regular basis.
  • Closely coordinates with purchasing team to ensure materials arrive on time to support development schedule.
  • Communicate adjustments in project schedules to the organization and ensure appropriate level of urgency is recognized.
  • Performs personnel functions; coaches for improved performance, identifies/develops high potential employees, conducts performance evaluations, establish goals and development plans, drive knowledge transfer, build organizational capability, disciplinary action, and recommends compensation increases within company guidelines.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years of relevant experience minimum.
  • Highly organized with strong time and schedule management.
  • Computer skills should include proficiency with MS Office products, particularly Excel (i.e. working with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and conditional formatting).
  • Successfully drive simultaneous activities, meet deadlines, and achieve results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities at once with a positive attitude.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
