The GIS Technician position is primarily responsible for data entry and data maintenance of the McKenzie County GIS system which supports workflows within multiple county departments. This position is located in Watford City, ND and scheduled for Monday - Friday. Level and salary commensurate with experience. Essential Job Functions: Assign 911 addresses based on local, state, and NENA standards Review, identify, and edit GIS data that supports Public Works, Engineering, Planning and Zoning, Emergency Response, and other county departments Assist County staff and members of the public with varying information requests such as address verification, maps, and data Update / produce cartographic procedures, maps, and other documents Assist users with large format scans and prints Support the use of GPS and mobile devices for field information and collection Other duties as assigned for business needs Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Associates degree preferred in GIS, geography, regional planning, or a degree with a minor in GIS 2 years of experience editing spatial data, analysis of spatial / tabular data, and displaying related data Understanding of County government functions such as 911 / emergency response, public works, planning and zoning, etc. Ability to work on several projects or requests simultaneously, with little direction Extensive knowledge of computers, computer programs, scanning equipment, plotters, and various office machines Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and customer service Effective communication skills, both verbal and written Willingness and desire to learn new and challenging tasks Valid drivers license Reporting to Watford City, ND office daily at the required schedule time
