**Description**

***Primary Summary:***

The YMCA focus is to strengthen communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere. May also provide support in other areas as assigned. Provides a quality experience to members and guests focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

***Essential Functions:***

* Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.

Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out bus each day.

* Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.

* Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.

* Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed.

* Develops friendly and positive relationships with all constituents to include, but not limited to: staff, volunteers, parents, and children.

* Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor.

* Attends all staff meetings and required training programs.

* Other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

***Minimum Requirements:***

* Minimum one year work experience as a bus driver preferred.

* Possess valid appropriate class license.

* Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).

* Desire and ability to work with children.

* Successful completion of background screening

* Acquire and maintain the following certifications within 30 days of hire via YMCA, American Red Cross, American Heart Association and American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI):

* First Aid/CPR /AED (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)

* Requisite Redwoods Online Training Modules (completed prior to start date and repeated annually).

***Physical Demands:***

* Ability to safely drive a bus for long periods of time.

* Ability to respond to emergency situations.

* Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.

* Ability to be physically active to include, but not limited to lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, walking indoors/outdoors.
