Job Summary:

Individual is primarily responsible for driving a tractor-trailer lowboy and/or dump truck. This individual will be delivering construction materials to and from a job site in a dump truck and delivering and dropping off heavy construction equipment to and from jobsites. The individual is responsible for the safety of their truck, material(s), and equipment that is being hauled. Working with Brooks Construction Supervisors will be necessary in order to get the job done correctly.

Essential Job Functions (*=Non-essential tasks):
  • Daily pre-trip truck inspections
  • Operating a dump truck for various types of construction jobs & hauling needs
  • Operates a tractor and trailer lowboy to perform assigned tasks relating to road construction, repair and paving
  • Loads and unloads heavy equipment on and off lowboy trailers. Positions chains, straps, and binders to secure loads during transit.
  • Maintains records in compliance with DOT regulations
  • Has basic knowledge on heavy construction equipment. Demonstrates safe and proper use of assigned equipment.
  • Basic geographic knowledge of northeastern Indiana. Ability to use a tablet for work orders and maps.
  • Willing to work various shifts based on the needs of the job and overtime.
  • Calculate the preparation time to deliver equipment on time
  • Coordinate repairs needed on a truck in a timely manner
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and meet all physical requirements of the position
  • Up to date with federal or state regulations related to items being transported
  • Willing to work in a team atmosphere
  • Able to adapt quickly to change throughout the workday and/or workweek
  • Assist others in department as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Experience:
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License valid for Semi-Tractor Trailers and manual transmissions
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience driving a lowboy
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience driving a dump truck
  • Minimum of 1 year of heavy construction equipment experience preferred
  • Previous hands-on construction experience is preferred, with some knowledge of heavy construction equipment
  • Pass all pre-employment drug and/or alcohol test as required by the Company policy and if applicable by DOT regulations
  • Highly desire a member in good standing with the local Teamsters union or willingness to become a member
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job may be considered.
