Position Summary

The director of corporate communications will shape the overarching narratives to influence our corporate reputation as well as lead the communications planning around individual initiatives to our news, business and trade audiences. The role will span across external and internal communications.

As a primary liaison to media outlets and agency partners, the director will build and maintain key media relationships while also proactively maintaining the editorial calendar and responding to inbound media inquiries. This role will work closely to discover potential news-driving headlines within the ever-changing media landscape.

This role will also be a key stakeholder in building our internal communications stories as we develop our employer brand and engagement with our global team.

As a purpose-led, results-driven, and community-oriented company, the ideal candidate for this role will be interested and well-versed in current events, cultural conversations, and overall media, social, and thought-leadership landscapes.

Responsibilities:

- Development and evolution of key corporate narratives that put e.l.f. at the center of conversation among several key audiences

- Mine e.l.f.'s ethos and always-on initiatives for ongoing newsworthy stories

- Ownership of corporate communications editorial calendar

- Creation of corporate communications strategies, execution plans, and briefing books

- Oversight of content creation to support corporate reputation

- Proactive outreach and organization of media, partners, and stakeholders around multiple initiatives simultaneously

- Adviser to the Executive Team on media appearances

Requirements:

- 8-10 years of experience in corporate communications, journalism, public relations

- Keen interest and knowledge of media, culture, business, and purpose

- Collaborative leadership approach and eagerness to develop cross-functional, passionate partnerships

- Strong ability to understand, leverage, and connect quantitative and qualitative data

- Strong relationship-building skills in addition to well-established media relationships

- Deep understanding of the corporate and consumer audiences - and where they intersect

- Excellent writer, editor, and strategist

- Enjoys working in an agile, dynamic, and quick-moving environment
