The Position:

The Aquatics Director's responsibilities include mentoring, coaching, and leading a dynamic team focused on the aquatics program and its implementation across all schools and team members. The Aquatics Director will analyze the class schedule for inefficiencies, ensure team members are consistently teaching BSS curriculum in a predictable and repeatable way, and promote an open, collaborative culture.

Using our fun, gentle, and progressive approach the Aquatics Director helps our swimmers gain confidence and knowledge, thereby, working towards our mission of creating safe and happy swimmers.

Locations in Vancouver and Portland. Strategically, this position will oversee growth of the Portland locations but training will be in Vancouver.

Your Typical Responsibilities:

+ Hire, train, supervise, support, and develop a dynamic team of Swim Instructors and Managers.

+ Ensure that all water, safety standards and certifications are up to date and maintained.

+ Conduct ongoing training and performance reviews.

+ Develop and adhere to the annual budget and strategies for business success.

+ Ensure classes and training adhere to current company and program standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

+ 3 years of supervisory experience

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

+ Have a responsible and professional demeanor.

+ Willing to acquire Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience in swimming and fitness teaching/management is preferred.

+ Experience managing aquatics teams.

+ Possesses Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.

+ 3+ years of supervisory experience

+ Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification

+ 1+ years of working with children.

While we teach swimming to people of all ages and abilities, most of our students are preschool and elementary-aged kids. Our instructors should like working with this age group and be good at making parents feel comfortable. It's helpful if you have experience with children or in a child-focused job, but it's not required if you can show the right attitude. The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.

In these roles, you might talk to parents on the phone or by the pool.
