JOIN OUR TEAM AS A LIBRARIAN III

The role of Librarian III- Regional Manager involves professional library work responsible for managing, planning, organizing, and coordinating the activities in a region. Demonstrates exceptional customer service. Provides supervision, guidance and leadership to Librarian IIs in assigned region to manage and improve library operations, programs, services, and facilities. Serves as primary liaison between the Library Division Manager and library staff in assigned region. Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates professional staff, recommending and taking corrective action when necessary. Determines, assesses, and addresses community needs.?

Evaluates library programs and services and works to align them with the strategic plan. Assists citizens with accessing and using all library resources and services. Develops and maintains partnerships with individuals and organizations throughout the community. Collaborates with library administration and other supervisors to resolve operational issues, implement new initiatives, and develop systemwide plans that align with strategic priorities. Contributes to the development of the library’s strategic direction. Represents the library at meetings, conferences, presentations, or events as necessary. Responds to and resolves citizen inquiries and complaints.

Interprets library policies, procedures, and objectives for staff and citizens. Keeps accurate, up to date work records and statistics and produces written reports.?Prepares and submits statistical, payroll, and budget reports. Participates in library committee work.??Ability to lift and/or move up to 35lbs and push or pull heavy objects. Performs related work as required.

Knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of public library operations. Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee supervision and training Knowledge of leadership styles and skills. Strong technology skills, including working knowledge of PC, Internet and online reference resources skills, knowledge of downloadable platforms and devices used to access those platforms, knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Organizational, budgeting, and planning skills, including scheduling, keeping up-to-date statistical information on library programs and services, and tracking and spending funds for materials and programming in a timely fashion. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, both virtual and in person. Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to evolving organizational priorities. Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships. Ability to apply logic and reasoning to problem resolution. Ability to conduct basic troubleshooting on commonly used library equipment. Ability to work proactively to attain solutions. Ability to contribute to constructive decision-making in collaboration with library. leadership and build buy-in among team members. Ability to analyze professional problems and take appropriate action. Ability to actively build relationships with peers in other County departments. Ability to produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar. Models professional demeanor and conduct. Growth mindset and dedication to lifelong learning. PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.

May use a handing device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or moved excessively heavy objects.

Job requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping and reaching.

Requires use of a video display monitor, keyboard and mouse. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Must possess a Master's Degree in Library Science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association.

Four (4) years of professional library experience as a librarian in a public library system including three (3) years of management experience in a small to medium multi-service public library branch.

Experience with library automation systems and/or personal computers and software including database and/or internet experience. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:
