Description

Position Title: WIC Program Nutritionist
Department: WIC
Supervisor: Senior Nutritionist
Status/Hours Per Week: Part Time (15hours/week - Flexible)

Primary Function:

The WIC Program Nutritionist provides nutrition services and benefits to WIC participants under the supervision of the Senior Nutritionist.

Duties & Responsibilities:

•Assess, counsel, and provide nutrition education to WIC participants.
•Provide breastfeeding support and resources to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
•Assist in the development of educational materials and activities.
•Facilitate group nutrition education activities.
•Schedule appointments, make reminder phone calls and answer participant questions.
•Reliable transportation and availability to work at all WIC sites in Dorchester, Mattapan and Hyde Park.
•Assist in training WIC staff, agency staff, providers and other agencies on nutrition or WIC topics.
•Collaborate with healthcare providers and other agencies to coordinate and increase quality of care.
•Participate in quality assurance activities.
•Perform other duties as required by the position or as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum Basic Knowledge:
  • Bachelors of Science in Nutrition (a LDN or RD preferred).

Experience & Qualifications
•Excellent communication skills and sensitivity to participant needs.
•Proficiency in data entry and typing.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks in an organized manner.
•Proficiency in Cape Verdean Creole, Spanish or Haitian Creole language, strongly preferred.
•One (1) year of experience in clinical/community nutrition, preferred
