Summary

Thetechnologist will provide services timely and efficiently at appropriate levelsto all patients and in all settings served by the department. Provide imaging and fluoroscopic supportduring surgical procedure. The Technologist will perform tasks and duties asoutlined per hospital policy and procedure. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Works closely with the Physician, PA, or NP toreceive guidance and instruction for treating patients and prepares patientsfor radiological procedures and take X-rays following established proceduresfor patient care and safety.
  • Protect patients, yourself and staff fromradiation exposure by practicing sound procedures which meet or exceedrecommended industry standards.
  • Provide fluoroscopic support during surgicalprocedures, assisting team in image identification, recording anddocumentation.
  • Utilizes EHR to log completed radiologicalprocedures and order entries, retrieves and scans reports and assures patientcharging. Request, retrieve and track files to and from other departments and/orcenters. Complete documentation accurately and on time.
  • Transport of patients as needed to and from theImaging services department. Requestsassistance when needed.
  • Obtain, develop and process quality diagnosticradiographs as requested by Physician, PA, or NP.
  • Ensure that all equipment is in good workingcondition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and reportimmediately any equipment malfunctions to Supervisor.
  • Maintain x-ray room, stock and rotateradiological supplies.
  • Provides orientation and training to newRadiology Techs and make suggestions to improve work methods.
  • Otherduties may be assigned.

Advanced Orthopedic and SpineCertification Requirements

(CR.1c) As part of the AdvancedOrthopedic and Spine Certification, at a minimum, the Program direct-carestaff, must have one (1) hour of education specific to the Program scope,initially, and at least annually thereafter.

(CR.1e) As part of the AdvancedOrthopedic and Spine Certification, staff possess adaptability to processes asrelated to up to date best practices, collaboration between departments,compliance with protocols/processes, communication, cooperation and exceptionalcustomer service.

Within 90 days of hire or, ifcurrently employed, within 90 days of signing the job description, must adhereto:
  • Orientation of Advanced Orthopedic and SpineCertification
  • In compliance with the Program educationrequirements
  • Completed department specific competencies
Regulatory Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited radiologictechnologists' program
  • Current ARRT
  • Current Louisiana State License LRT
  • Current BLS certification or able to obtainwithin 30 days of hire
  • Two years of experience preferred and must beproficient in diagnostic radiology. One year working competency preferred inone section of other specialized area: surgery.
Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English,both verbally and in writing.
  • Basiccomputer knowledge.

Physical Demands

The physicaldemands described here are representative of those that must be met by anemployee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talkand hear. This position is very active and requires repetitive motions,standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping all day. The employee mustfrequently lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
