Engineering Manager

This global plastics business is a talented and experienced Engineering Manager to lead an engineering team in a fast-paced plastics manufacturing environment. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities, including process optimization, product development, equipment maintenance, and innovation initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of plastics manufacturing processes, and a proven track record of driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Process Optimization: Lead efforts to optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and product quality, utilizing lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new products or improve existing ones, from concept to commercialization, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and market trends.
Equipment Maintenance and Upgrades: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upgrades of manufacturing equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Innovation Initiatives: Drive innovation and technology adoption initiatives to enhance manufacturing capabilities, reduce costs, and improve competitiveness in the market.
Project Management: Manage engineering projects from initiation to completion, including scope definition, resource allocation, timeline management, and budget control.
Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality control teams to establish and maintain quality standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure that engineering activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
Supplier and Vendor Management: Collaborate with procurement teams to select and manage external suppliers and vendors for engineering-related services, materials, and equipment.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of engineering activities, including project plans, technical specifications, and progress reports, for reference and regulatory compliance purposes.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related field). Master's degree preferred.
Experience in engineering roles within the plastics manufacturing industry, with at least X years in a managerial or leadership position.
In-depth knowledge of plastics manufacturing processes, including injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, etc.
Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
Strong track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives and implementing best practices to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget.
Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of quality management systems, safety regulations, and compliance standards relevant to the plastics manufacturing industry.
