Virtu is seeking an experienced and board-certified Interventional Radiologist to provide comprehensive care at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. The position requires a focus on direct patient care, with 90-95% of the time spent performing interventional radiology procedures. The selected candidate will play a critical role in enhancing patient care through the performance of minimally invasive, image-guided procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of interventional radiology procedures including, but not limited to:
  • Angiography
  • Cryoablation
  • Balloon angioplasty/stent placement
  • Line insertion, chemoembolization, and IVC filters
  • Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty
  • Thrombolysis, dialysis access, and related interventions
  • Biopsies, TIPS placement, and biliary interventions
  • Provide timely patient care, adhering to VA regulations on clinic wait times and consult completion.
  • Offer consultation and guidance to referring physicians, determining the appropriate course of treatment.
  • Conduct post-procedure evaluations, follow-ups, and clinical consultations for complications.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and peer reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to patient safety and infection control standards.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call duties, responding within 15 minutes by phone and within 60 minutes on-site.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Must possess technical proficiency in interventional radiology procedures.
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing) is required.
  • Ability to provide verifiable evidence of educational and training experiences upon request.

License and Certification Requirements:

  • Possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Board Certification from the American Board of Radiology is required. Documentation of certification must be maintained and provided annually.

Hours of Operation & On-Call Coverage:

  • Clinic hours: Monday Friday, 7:30 am 4:30 pm EST.
  • After-hours on-call required: Weekdays from 4:30 pm 8:00 am, and 24 hours on weekends and holidays.
  • On-call physician must be available for phone consultation within 15 minutes and on-site within 60 minutes.
