Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Outside Machinist III in Honolulu, HI. Summary: Under limited supervision, installs new machines or heavy equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, or other drawings, and dismantles and installs machines or heavy equipment when changes in the plant layout are required. Non-supervisory. May provide guidance and training to lower level employees as requested. Duties & Responsibilities : Replaces defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts. Aligns machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and various electrical/electronic equipment. Connects power unit to machines or steam piping to equipment, and test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation. Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment. Assembles and installs equipment, using hand tools and power tools. Positions steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings, to determine work procedures. Signals crane operator to lower basic assembly units to bedplate, and align unit to centerline. Inserts shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts. Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks. Attaches moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit, using hand tools and power tools. Supports other trades as required to include assisting in rigging, disassembly, reassembly and inspection of mechanical and electrical equipment, systems, and components. Required Qualifications : High school diploma/equivalent. More than 5 years' relevant experience. Experience performing PMS checks onboard surface ships or submarines. Understanding of US Navy 3M System and associated documentation requirements. Has knowledge of the trade qualifications and performs as a level III Outside Machinist. Must be able to understand and perform the basic set up, alignment, and operation of various portable tools and hand tools used in the trade. Has working knowledge of shipboard mechanical systems (repair/installation practices, procedures, alignments and troubleshooting) and blue print reading. Ability to use such precision measuring instruments as height gauges, depth gauges, calipers, verniers, lay-out tools, tachometers, thermometers, vibration indicators Possesses the ability to accurately record readings and measurements as well as complete documentation, repair, and testing of equipment. Will assist in rigging evolutions when necessary. Communicates effectively Works independently or in a group. Ability to do basic math, i.e. add, subtract, divide and multiply. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Able to obtain and maintain access to military and government installations and private shipyards. Ability to travel. ADA Notations : Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise. Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships). Able to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight. Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, assemble small objects. Able to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
