Persons requiring accommodations to apply and/or be considered for positions are asked to make their request to the Superintendent.JOB TITLE: JUNIOR HIGH NIGHT CUSTODIANREQUIREMENTS: High school diploma; participate in additional training as neededREPORTS TO: Building Administrator/Supervisor of Buildings/GroundsRECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building Administrator/Supervisor of Buildings/GroundsJOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and grow.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months (2:00 pm - 10:30 pm)EVALUATION: Annually, based on job performance criteria, enthusiasm and effortESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Consistent and punctual attendance is an essential function of this jobAssume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each day and for determining that all doors and windows are secured and all lights (except those left on for safety reasons) are turned offKeeps buildings and premises, including sidewalk, driveways, and play areas (if elementary) neat and clean at all timesAbility to handle mechanical functions of the buildingMaintains a regular service schedule on all motors, mechanical equipment, ballasts, and lightsRegulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricityShovels, plows, and/or sands sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and steps as necessaryChecks daily to insure that all exit doors are operating properlyRaises and lowers the U.S. and Nebraska flag as neededSweeps classrooms daily and dusts furnitureClean corridors during the day as often as is requiredScrubs and disinfects toilet floors daily; cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountainsWashes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice a year and more frequently if necessary to remove dirt and debrisKeeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation. Wax and refinish floors as needed at least once per year.Cleans all chalkboards/whiteboards at least once a weekMoves furniture and equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed by the principalMakes minor building repairs as needed.Reports major repairs promptly to the building principal through maintenance requestsPerforms cleaning duties outside the school building (and on school grounds) as necessary to maintain the facility in a safe and attractive conditionReports immediately to the building principal any damage to school propertyCollaborates with other custodians and building staff to proactively address building issuesCommunicates effectively with colleagues and reports daily to the building supervisorAssists other custodians as needed (or applicable) with special building events such as music programs, community functions with the building, or athletic contests in the gymRemains on the school premises when the use of the building has been authorized and their attendance is required by the principalPerforms other duties as assigned by supervisorsPay rate includes $.44 night pay
