Convenient location between two large metropolitan areas: Atlanta and Chattanooga The role you’ll contribute: The PFS financial counselor is responsible for assisting walk-in patients with questions or payments. The counselor will assist the Patient Access Manager as liaison to the central billing office, maintaining communication and information flow between the CBO and the hospital. The financial counselor performs all activities in compliance with applicable state, federal, or regulatory guidelines. The value you’ll bring to the team: ·

The financial counselor responds to all patient inquires received via walk-in visit, including, but not limited to, the following activities: -

Process payment. -

Add insurance information to Cerner and initiate claims process. ·

The financial counselor reviews census activity reports from prior day ·

Check self-pay patients in account history/notes for possible Medicaid or other insurance information and verify coverage if located. Also verify whether local translator is involved with patient. ·

Check for availability of Cobra coverage. ·

Check Medicare IP/Obs accounts for LTR & coinsurance days, as well as possible HMO coverage or Hospice involvement. ·

Refer accounts to eligibility vendor. ·

Notify case management of any changes to information from time of original paperwork. ·

The financial counselor processes financial assistance applications received at the hospital and sends to CBO for final disposition. ·

ER short forms noted on account, then filed/scanned according to CBO instructions. ·

The financial counselor will process upfront applications for extended pay program, including credit scoring and review of payment

history on prior accounts with the program. Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed: ·

High school diploma or equivalent. Computer literacy. Knowledge of medical terminology and billing requirements for 3rd party payors.
