We're looking for a talented Assistant Controller to take ownership of the US payroll process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Payroll will be a significant focus of the position, especially initially. As you gain experience, you will also play a key role in assisting with various other accounting functions.

Payroll responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, including managing payroll schedules, and designing and implementing processes such as hire-to-retire, payroll controls, benefits and 401(k) setups and reconciliations.
  • Perform duties which require an understanding of the company's payroll policies and procedures and collaborate with teams on cross-functional projects.
  • Be the point of contact for the entire North America region for all payroll-related questions, playing a key role for the employees.
  • Manage all time & attendance, including trainings for employees and managers.
  • Maintain and establish payroll controls in compliance with SOX and internal control policies.
  • Analyze payroll data to increase visibility and accuracy such as $ and HC fluctuation, comparison of payroll system to HR records, and growth analysis.
  • Post month end payroll entries to the company's accounting system, NetSuite.
  • Calculate payroll accruals, such as PTO and commissions.
  • Process specialty off-cycle payrolls, such as equity (ESPP/RSUs), fringe, etc.
Other accounting functions may include:
  • Month and quarter-end closing tasks.
  • Supporting internal and external audits.
  • Assisting with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
This role will be part of the US Accounting Team located in the Burlington, MA office and will report to the US Controller.

This is the perfect job for someone who has:
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting.
  • B.S. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required, with advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, IF statements) a must
  • Knowledge of payroll requirements for processing payroll, equity transactions, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with payroll federal and state laws.
  • Experience with ADP TotalSource platform (PEO) and NetSuite ERP software - a plus.
  • Accurate and detail-oriented with a high level of analytical and professional skills.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to analyze data to determine whether results are as expected and question discrepancies.
  • Ability to work independently to prioritize and successfully complete multiple tasks with strict internal and external deadlines
