Quality Engineer

Chandler Industries, a precision machining and sheet metal fabricating company with 4 divisions in Minnesota along with a facility in Mexico, is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team. This position is located in our new facility, located in Wyoming, Minnesota.
In this working leadership role, you will be responsible for championing the overall quality system including creating quality inspection plans and developing inspection programs. Interacts with engineering, inspection and production personnel to ensure products, components, parts, and material conform to customer, supplier, and regulatory requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops/writes protocols, coordinates the testing, and writes reports for validation activities, component qualification activities, IQ/OQ/PQ, PPAP, gauge R&R studies.
Leads development and review of inspection plans and protocols.
Validates process effectiveness and leads continual improvement of system and manufacturing processes.
Coordinates with key personnel to identify and implement corrective actions to eliminate internal, supplier and manufacturer defects.
Identifies and develops high quality suppliers utilizing supplier audits, evaluations, and ongoing continuous improvement to ensure Chandler’s supplier quality standards are being met.
Develops, implements, and assists with training on continuous improvement methods.
Completes other assignments as requested. Develop inspection plans to be utilized during receiving, in process, first article and final inspection.
Train employees in the use of inspection plans and procedures.
Assist in troubleshooting of product processes.
Create vision inspection system programs to be utilized during receiving, in-process and/or final inspection.
Develop “bubble “drawings with callouts for critical features.
Assist in the disposition and documentation of non-conforming material and the implementation of corrective action.
Ensure gages used to validate product are properly maintained and calibrated.
Validate product post outside service processing to product and documentation conformity.
Provide customers with return authorization, as needed, and coordinates with customer service on processing of credit memos.
Assist in the coordination and execution of process validation activities, including statistical data collection and analysis utilizing capability and gage R & R studies.
Lead and train inspection and production personnel in Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (GD&T) and gaging methodology.
Maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition. Works safely and complies with all established safety rules and work practices.
Keep manager of quality informed of job-related problems and other information related to work activity.
Maintain a positive work attitude and promotes a team approach throughout the department.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) in Quality Control or similar; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of three years’ experience in quality assurance function within a precision machining manufacturing environment.
Expertise with statistical process control methods, monitoring and control, data and defect analysis, variance reduction, and capability analysis.
Mechanical gage inspection experience.
Proficient reading, writing, oral communication, and comprehension in English language.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power-Point).
Knowledge of quality assurance techniques.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications including geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively within the organization and collaborate with internal and external clients to determine requirements and eliminate any barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of product.
Comprehensive knowledge of internal and external auditing methods and quality system procedures.
Advanced metrology skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of quality at the source techniques, root cause analysis, corrective action, continuous improvement, lean and six sigma.
Strong knowledge of heat treat, metallurgy, machining, chemical processing, and applicable special processes.
Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering design drawings.
Strong organizational and project management skills. Demonstrated experience successfully leading projects resulting in measurable improvements (continual in-process and preventative).
Ability to identify and evaluate complex, ambiguous business problems or technical issues and provide well thought out solutions.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively within the organization and collaborate with internal and external clients to determine requirements and eliminate any barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of product.

Self-directed and ability to work in teams.
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Additional Skills and Experience:
Experience with Keyence LM 1000 series vision measurement system.
CQE, CQM, CQA certification, or Six Sigma Green Belt is highly desirable.
