Job Summary:

The Category Manager Role works in support of marketing initiatives to facilitate the completion of all tasks related to the assigned categories. The Category Manager ensures exceptional product management along with a better customer experience that supports our purpose to Leave em Better. The categories for this role include: Candy, Dispensed Beverage, Grocery, General Merchandise, Apparel, Drinkware, Outdoor, and Electronics.

This position is an in-office role that is located in Spicewood, Texas.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for category management of assigned categories to include sales, gross profit management, category analysis and creating business development & category management plans.
  • Strong Analysis with focus on areas of product assortment, pricing, promotion, new product introductions, industry trends.
  • Rely on experience and strong judgement to plan and accomplish goals with a wide degree creativity, risk, latitude and autonomy decision making.
  • Ability to travel 25%.
  • Ability to relocate to Central Texas, position is based in Spicewood, TX.
  • Abide by all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations/certifications.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Develops category strategy, financial budgets, category role, category performance, customer and product trends and competitive landscape for assigned mid-level categories.
  • Develops and executes category assortment review, planning, forecasting and planogram updates.
  • Collaborates with management teams to translate assortment plan into merchandising plan and store-level programs.
  • Support teams to ensure category execution to include marketing planning, exit strategy planning and coordinated planogram updates.
  • Develop sales and promotional calendars and promotional analysis to drive category sales & profits.
  • Establishes mutually beneficial vendor relationships with a key accounts; negotiates with vendors to obtain the best pricing possible as well as product differentiation, and business strategy to maintain the integrity and uniqueness of our brand.
  • Develops strategic relationship with key suppliers in order to ensure early insight to new trends and products.
  • Negotiate rebates, program agreements and RFPs to maximize sales, gross profit dollars and Category and Company Strategies and Objectives.
  • Manages new item launches, merchandising instructions and communications to internal and external customers.
  • Manage online order & delivery category menu assortment and pricing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate at all levels of the Company; clearly and concisely express opinions, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Demonstrate and practice corporate values, behaviors, and acts in an ethical and lawful manner at all times to include being a person of integrity, dependability, and be inspirational.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Experience, Competencies, and Education
  • Education and Experience:
    • At least 2 years of Category Management Experience at a Brick and Mortar Retailer.
    • Strong track record for building sales and gross profit dollars
    • Experience in building innovative programs
    • Private label experience a plus
    • Planogram software experience a plus (JDA/Apollo)
    • Digital marketing experience and online marketing experience a plus
