In this role you will be the focal point for Design for Reliability and Quality improvements while working within an R&D and manufacturing environment that produces complex, high-tech products for the semiconductor industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams during new product development to identify and address potential reliability and quality issues early in the design cycle.
  • Define and monitor implementation of reliability requirements to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Develop and implement reliability plans incorporating Design for Reliability (DfR) principles such as reliability plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and reliability testing.
  • Collaborate with NPI teams to conduct system and component level reliability assessments including warranty analysis, reliability predictions, and validation testing to evaluate the design and performance of capital equipment for our semiconductor customers.
  • Lead projects to improve the Design for Reliability culture within the organization by implementing industry standard practices, methodologies, and tools for reliability engineering.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reliability, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, service, and quality teams.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for reliability and quality issues, ensuring effective resolution and prevent recurrence by applying advanced problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Kepner Tregoe).
  • Mentor and train engineering team members on quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), FMEAs, and problem-solving methods.
  • Support Quality Assurance and ISO processes as needed.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in reliability engineering of complex systems or capital equipment preferably in the semiconductor industry or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Quality Engineer (CQE) are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Good understanding of reliability engineering principles, methodologies, and tools, such as reliability predictions, FMEA, Weibull analysis, and reliability testing.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving a design for reliability culture and implementing best practices for reliability engineering.
  • Experience with problem solving and risk management tools (e.g. 8-D, CAPA, Kepner-Tregoe, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram).
  • Good understanding of quality assurance principles, methodologies, and tools (incl. Statistical Process Control, and Root Cause Analysis).
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001.
  • Demonstrated good communications skills and able to work effectively with multi-functional global teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and data analysis tools (e.g. JMP, Reliasoft)
  • Domestic travel
