About the Team & Role

Penn Game Studios (PGS) is searching for an experienced and enthusiastic Software Engineer to work on our cutting edge remote gaming systems. Work often includes writing rules engines, adding and maintaining platform features, and writing tools to help our internal and external teams. The right candidate will promote best practices and work closely with project managers to define and prioritize tasks.

About Work

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

Write best in class code for our platform servers.

Use data storage layers, such as PostgreSQL and Redis, to store and cache important data.

Manage tasks and communicate with producers and teammates.

Work with teammates to design high quality solutions for novel problems.

Research and apply new technologies when appropriate.

Maintain technical documentation of solutions.

About You

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or one year of software engineering experience.

Experience with standard backend technologies such as SQL, Key-Value Caching, HTTP, etc.

Practical knowledge of scalable server architectures.

Practical knowledge of threads, microservices, and distributed locking.

Excellent communication skills.

Experience with Git and Github or similar.

Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to solve technical problems with practical constraints.

Comfortable working in the terminal.

Comfortable working in a linux environment.

Experience using Visual Studio Code or similar.

Experience working with profiling tools.

Experience in Go, Rust, C++, C#, Java, Python, or similar is required.

Location

The primary office location for this position will be located in Greenfield, MA or remotely.
