Job Title: Electrical Design EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Technician to assist with the design, implementation, and training aspects of electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems, proficiency in AutoCAD, and the ability to work hands-on in a dynamic environment.ResponsibilitiesProvide hands-on involvement and training of electricians on schematic reading, installation, testing, and labeling.Collaborate with Sales Engineers on electrical design, proposals, and specification requirements to ensure NEC code adherence.Test and inspect each unit before shipping using product drawings and specifications, and correct any errors or defects as needed.Provide leadership and guidance on the standard design and layout of electrical components in enclosures.Deliver technical guidance and on-the-job training to employees on the safe operation of equipment and proper work techniques.Create, organize, implement, and manage cross-training for all production employees on the electrical portion of products.Exercise initiative and discretion in determining work methods and priorities.Perform standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.Read wiring diagrams and interpret specifications to determine the appropriate installation process.Work from drawings, layouts, blueprints, or other specifications while constructing equipment.Develop Electrical Drawings, Bills of Material (BOM), and specify equipment.Understand and review third-party materials expected to be received for projects, ensuring timely receipt and clear understanding of electrical requirements.Essential SkillsThorough understanding of power generation products, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, and conduit systems.Proficient understanding of AC/DC Electricity and Electronic Theory.Competency in using electronic test equipment and performing functional and indication tests as well as calibration of electrical equipment.Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematic drawings and engineering blueprints.Ability to wire control panels in the factory, troubleshoot discrepancies, and assist the electrical assembly team.Ability to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form, and read drawings, schematics, and blueprints.Excellent customer satisfaction skills and the ability to project a positive, professional image with customers.Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drawing tools, and understanding of current National Electric Code (NEC).Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively.Strong oral and written presentation skills to effectively convey information and respond to inquiries from coworkers and customers.Additional Skills & QualificationsAt least 3 years of work experience including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.Training from an accredited technical school specializing in diesel or gas engines, or honorable discharge with a duty assignment related to power generation equipment service is a plus.Formal electronics training including Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors.Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is a plus.Requires a two step onsite interview process.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.I have a copy of the company benefits package to share with candidates who make it through the initial screening process.Workplace TypeThis is a fully onsite position in Virginia Beach,VA.Application DeadlineThis position is anticipated to close on Feb 14, 2025.About Actalent Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
