Description:

The Director of Evangelization, Catechesis and Leader Formation is responsible to assist the pastor with the overall strategy for evangelization, childrens catechesis and formation of parish leaders.
This role includes strategic pastoral planning and implementation as well as and possible supervision of other ministry professionals. The Director supports, accompanies, equips and leads the lay leaders in areas of evangelization, catechesis, and small group formation.
The Director of Evangelization, Catechesis and Leader Formation serves on the Core Team and assures the participation of the laity in the Churchs mission in making disciples, building communities and inspiring witness.
Responsibilities
Collaborates with the Pastor, the Chief of Staff and the Director of Operations on discerning the vision that best enables the parish to offer ways for all parishioners to encounter Christ, be formed as disciples and practice missionary discipleship.
Helps to design practical steps of implementation of the evangelization and discipleship strategy.
Oversees the implementation of the strategic plan for parish mission and vitality and ensures that parish ministries are aligned with it.
Advances the intentional evangelization efforts of the parish that leads to a culture of evangelization that permeates the life of the community.
Supports procedures for recruitment, training and assessing staff members and volunteers entrusted with leadership of the parish ministries.
Leads the catechetical ministry of the parish.
Oversees parish Alpha, Alpha Marriage and Alpha Marriage Prep Courses.
Collaborates with the Chief of Staff and the Director of Operations to develop an annual budget for the pastoral ministries that provides for parish vitality and evangelization.
May lead special projects or ministries as the Pastor requests.
Collaborate with church and school leaders in other local parishes towards best practices in providing vital ministry to all people.

Model the spirit of Jesus in ones life and identify with and promote the universal Church and its global mission so that all prayer and ministerial activity flow from that mission.
Ability to form and nurture a community of missionary disciples through encounter, accompaniment and sending forth.
Foster a pastoral ministry that empowers people to enculturate the Gospel in their own culture and to foster unity in diversity in the Catholic Church by utilizing human, spiritual, theological, and pastoral approaches proper to each culture.
Developed skills in leadership and management and continually seek opportunities to improve skills.
Implement the principles and processes of evangelization and faith formation as outlined in local, national and universal Church documents.
Practicing Catholic with solid grounding in Catholic identity and the faith tradition.
Strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork among clergy, staff, volunteers, groupings and the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle and a reasonable balance among the legitimate claims of family, community, personal relationships, and ministry.

Promotes evangelization as one of the primary activities of all parish ministries and essential for parish vitality.
Demonstrates a sensitivity to the multicultural concerns that affect the community and seeks ways to celebrate its cultural diversity.
Demonstrates an interest in the initiation of new members in the parish community and in the processes of Evangelization and Renewal.
Strong ability to collaborate and work effectively with a team of clergy, staff, volunteers and parish leaders through excellent communication skills that include the ability to articulate faith concepts.
Comfortable with change and ability to ascertain future needs of ministry and to match resources to the need.
Formation and Education Requirements
Masters Degree in, Pastoral Studies, Theology, Faith Formation or similar (or working toward)
Catholic Parish staff experience preferred.
Catholic catechesis formation required.
Preferred Lay Ecclesial Ministry Formation completion.
