REPORTS TO: Molding Technical Supervisor

3rd Shift

JOB SUMMARY:

A Mold Set-Up Technician is responsible for supporting mold maintenance and production. Removes and sets molds according to the mold change schedule. Maintains molds for cleanliness and repairs as needed or as directed by lead man. Performs mold cleaning and required documentation. Manages and controls tooling and processing changes in the injection molding presses.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1.Performs all duties and essential job functions of the Mold Set-Up Technician II position.

Complex mold set-up without supervision. Completes process, LPAs, and in-process audits. Acts as trainer for all Mold Set-Up Technicians. Performs advanced troubleshooting and wiring.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of RJG Systematic I Scientific Molding certification.
  • Advanced Electrical theory in troubleshooting electrical circuits.
PAY GRADE: 406

PREFERRED

Six years Mold Set-Up Tech experience or training and experience in mold setting and mold repairs.

Standing/walking frequent walking around the facility and standing while repairing molds

Sitting ocassional to frequent depending on use of forklift

Frequent to constant turning of neck with static forward leaning to work on the mold

Upper extremities

Constant reaching, grasping, fingering with awkward reaching into small places

Lower extremities

Frequent to constant walking, stepping on and off forklift and frequent to constant standing

Tools and equipment

Forklift, tools, power tools, overhead hoist, chains

Primary job tasks
  • Strength range-heavy
  • Move mold which involves pushing and pulling (mold 100lbs of force)
  • Will be involved in wiring mold which involves fine motor fingering and reaching into awkward spaces
  • If mold involves water to operate the employee will be involve in plumbing involving force to turn using plumbing tools
  • Employee follows a schedule to pull molds from machine. This involves attaching the mold to a chain by screwing rings into the top of the mold and then using a forklift hook the chains over the forks and lift mold from machine and transport to work area. May need to push or pull at mold to position out of machine to attach to chain
  • 2/3 of machines are positions where an overhead hoist can be used to lift mold from the machine. Still may involve pushing and pulling to the mold to position for the hoist.
  • Employee using tools will take mold apart using constant fingering, wrist turning and twisting
  • Once repaired or replace employee will transport mold back to the machine and repeat the process to re-install
  • Employee involved in shipping and receiving molds
  • May involve the use of blueprints to repair
