We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer in our Boston facility who has a strong aerospace engineering background with experience designing, prototyping, and testing novel and complex systems.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Research and development of novel technology and engineering solutions
  • Design, build, and test of lab-scale, pilot-scale, and real-scale prototypes
  • Support scaling for production, including testing and evaluation of manufacturers prototypes, selection and sourcing of components, and ownership of manufacturing documentation such as assembly drawings, 3D models, part drawings, etc.
  • Select current and future projects in the mechanical engineering team include detailed designs for aircraft integration, thermal and mechanical analysis of electronics packaging, thermal design of critical electronic components, experiment design for aircraft-level testing, development of field repair techniques, recognizing and implementing manufacturability improvements, aircraft-level modeling and simulation, among others.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent required
  • 2 years or more of professional or research experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering preferred, ideally with exposure to aerospace or complex system hardware
  • Hands-on experience with design, fabrication, and testing of hardware required
  • Experience with thermal modeling, computer aided design, and/or mechanical design required
  • Proficiency with Solidworks, CATIA, or other CAD software required
  • Experience with hardware prototyping tools such as Arduino, microcontrollers, highly preferred
  • MATLAB experience highly preferred
  • Machine shop and rapid prototyping experience preferred
  • Familiarity with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and DAQs preferred
