We are currently searching for a dynamic, Research & Development Electrical Engineer to support the development, documentation and validation of new electrical products by utilizing electrical engineering principals, engineering practices and electrical CAD design. In addition to new product development, the engineer will also coordinate resolution of problems for existing products. Primary responsibilities will include: Engineer electrical hardware products based on product requirements from FANUC America (FAC) Executing Groups Develop and maintain technical plan to define scope of work and product deliverables for new product developments Complete all assigned FMEAs, validation test plans and validation testing on schedule Perform engineering analysis including power distribution analysis, electrical heat transfer and electrical load calculations Design system cables and robot wire harnesses for FAC products and systems Develop controller packaging concepts and designs for specific FAC products and systems Conduct and participate in Design Reviews for new electrical product releases Work with suppliers to review and quote new products Release product part numbers and bill of materials in FAC’s EBS system Author and support documentation for FAC products and systems Support manufacturing during new product builds and debug of problems Interface with suppliers, internal and external customers to resolve product problems Provide product support to FAC divisions and answer product questions as required Identify drawing revisions and process formal engineering changes as required Interface with FANUC Corporation to exchange development concepts and resolve product problems Support execution improvement and quality initiatives including participation on teams and support of corrective action activities Support product cost down initiatives Required to provide electrical hardware support on FAC’s manufacturing floors when needed Occasional overnight travel to customer sites is required - some travel may be required, not to exceed 20% Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent relevant experience Experience with electronics testing and test equipment, robotics or control system product design, and writing technical reports Understanding of electronics, wiring systems, computer architectures and microprocessor-based systems Knowledge of EMI/EMC - Shielding and Grounding Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), International Standards is a plus Proficiency with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical is a plus) Familiarity with Solidworks (for Sheetmetal design) is a plus Understanding Altium Designer (for PCB design) is a plus Familiarity with XDOCs or other documentation management systems is a plus Understanding and application of electrical engineering symbols, conventions and standard Willingness to accept specific project responsibility and related completion dates Basic technical skills to support electrical prototype assembly or modifications to prototype We offer market competitive pay and benefits programs, as well as opportunities for advancement, knowledge and skill development, and recognition of individual achievements.
