Location: Baton Rouge, LA (In-office position)

About the Role: As the Subrogation Claim Manager, you will play a critical role in managing and directing the subrogation process. This includes overseeing a team of claims representatives, ensuring effective handling of claims, and maximizing recovery while minimizing costs and risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Direct the claims handling activities of a team of four to eight claim reps from initial assignment to resolution. Provide ongoing training, coaching, and performance management to maintain high levels of professionalism and effectiveness.
  • Claims Oversight: Review and authorize check issuance requests for accuracy and appropriateness. Monitor the utilization of external vendors, ensuring an appropriate balance of expense versus exposure.
  • Performance Management: Identify and address performance deficiencies in a timely manner. Conduct regular file reviews, diary reviews, and closed file audits to provide feedback and direction.
  • Subrogation Strategy: Assess subrogation claims to determine viability and strategize the best approach for recovery. Oversee and manage subrogation files, ensuring accurate documentation and organization.
  • Negotiation and Legal Coordination: Negotiate settlements with responsible parties or their insurers. Collaborate with legal teams or outside counsel to prepare for litigation, provide documentation, and support case preparation.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all subrogation activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. Prepare and present regular reports on subrogation activities, recovery efforts, and performance metrics.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support on subrogation processes and best practices. Address inquiries and concerns from policyholders related to the subrogation process.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the subrogation function.
  • Collaboration: Actively participate in meetings and discussions with subordinates, peers, and executive management on a range of topics including claim file issues, office environment considerations, and long-term strategic planning.

Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience in a personal lines automobile insurance claims environment, with a successful track record as a Subrogation Claim Rep, Liability Claim Rep, Material Damage Claim Rep, or similar supervisory role.
  • Experience handling arbitration cases is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the technical disciplines related to claims management.
  • Proven skills in coaching, training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent prioritization, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • College degree preferred.
