Overview

As an Information Technology (IT) Generalist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive support across various areas of IT within the organization. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from troubleshooting technical issues to implementing new IT systems and ensuring the smooth operation of existing infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a diverse skill set and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Technical Support:

  • Provide first-line support for IT-related issues, including hardware, software, and network problems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruption.
  • Assist end-users with software installations, configurations, and upgrades.
  • Respond to help desk tickets and escalate issues as necessary.
System Administration:
  • Administer and maintain servers, including installation, configuration, and monitoring.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Perform regular system backups and ensure data integrity.
  • Implement security measures to protect systems and data from unauthorized access or breaches.
Network Management:
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Implement and maintain VPNs, VLANs, and other network technologies as required.
  • Ensure compliance with network security policies and procedures.
IT Project Management:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define IT project requirements and objectives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute IT projects within established timelines and budgets.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate updates to relevant parties.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to evaluate project success and identify areas for improvement.
Documentation and Training:
  • Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • Develop user guides and training materials to support end-users.
  • Provide training and support to employees on IT tools and systems.

Placement Criteria
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. This can include technical school classes.
  • Two + years in a technical role.
  • Proven experience in IT support, system administration, and network management.
  • Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux), networking protocols, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) are a plus.
