Job Family Fire Prot & Emergency Resp Discipline Fire and Emergency Response Career Level T2 Salary Range $63,600 - $89,000 Note for Salary This is the range within which SRNS expects the majority of qualified candidates would enter this role if offered. Actual offers may be more or less than the amounts shown depending on candidate's qualifications, experience, internal equity, and other factors. Job Family Description Personnel in Fire Protection and Emergency Response supervise or perform work to control and extinguish fires, rescue persons endangered by fire, and reduce or eliminate potential fire hazards. It also covers fire service positions that control hazardous materials incidents; train personnel in fire protection and prevention; operate fire communications equipment; develop and implement fire protection and prevention plans, procedures, and standards; and advise on improvements to structures for better fire prevention. Positions in this series require knowledge of firefighting and fire prevention theory and techniques, a knowledge of fixed and mobile firefighting equipment operation; and/or the ability to plan, direct, or carry out fire protection and prevention programs and operations. Discipline Description Fire and Emergency Response personnel roles involve preventing, preparing for, and responding to fires, emergency medical responses, hazardous materials incidents, technical rescues, and other emergencies, ensuring the safety of people, property, and the environment. The role involves implementing preventative measures, fire protection coordination, and leading emergency response teams in effecting mitigation, investigation, and recovery efforts. Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include: Operate Site Fire Alarm Computer System. * Answer emergency telephone calls and simultaneously enter information into a Computer Aided Dispatch system. * Obtain information from caller and make rapid and accurate determination of the nature and priority of each call. * Select and dispatch the most appropriate emergency response unit in accordance with policies and procedures. * Transmit onsite and offsite protective actions and intitiate regulatory notifications to local, state, and federal officials in response to Operational, safeguard and Security, Industrial, or Non-nuclear Process emergencies. * Facilitate communications during DOE and Operating Contractor response to radiological incidents occurring in Georgia, North and South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, and the Panama Canal Zone. * Coordinate and assist all site agencies with SIRIM notifications to DOE-HQ. Perform notifications to site-level agencies and senior Operating Contractor/DOE-SR personnel. * Maintain operating logs summarizing facility and site-level events. * Respond to operations and events in accordance with established procedures (Q 12.1, Q 12.3, Q 12.4, and 6Q 15.4). * Operate Communications Systems (dispatch, radio, telephone, PA safety alarm), facility equipment (pumps and ventilaon system) and computer-based systems (daily activity log, remote worker). * Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by their supervisor. Required Qualifications * Associate's degree in relevant field plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training, OR High school diploma plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least one year of experience (YOE) in an applicable role * Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered Applicable positions must adhere to: NFPA 1001 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications NFPA 1021 Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications NFPA 1500 Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program We'd Also Like to See * Aptitude in reading and understanding regulatory standards/requirements and technical documents. * Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. * Strong analytical and quantitative skills. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. * Proficiency is Microsoft Office Applications to include (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, etc.) * Demonstrated ability to work independently and to participate in collaborative teams. * Demonstrate a willingness to learn and embrace a culture of continuous improvement. Career Band Technical Support Career Band Description * Roles in this band contribute to the business processes to achieve results by providing support of a technical nature to others who use the resulting information, materials, and/or analysis. * Performs technical work, often in support of professional roles * Typically requires vocational training or the equivalent experience * Performs duties according to established procedures Career Level Description Requires working knowledge and skillset through formal training or experience, and works within established procedures with a moderate degree of supervision. Security Clearance Information SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
