RefleXion elevates radiopharmaceuticals from drugs that help identify cancer to guides that actively direct external beam radiotherapy by leveraging tumor biology. Designated an FDA Breakthrough Device for lung tumors, RefleXion's SCINTIX biology-guided radiotherapy aims to overcome long-standing barriers preventing definitive radiotherapy for metastatic disease. FDA-cleared SCINTIX therapy automates targeting and motion management for use in FDG-guided treatment of lung and bone tumors that arise from primary lung and bone cancers or are metastases from other primary cancers. About This Role

This internship position will report to the Manager of Clinical Science, but also work closely with senior members of the Scientific and Medical Affairs teams at RefleXion. The Scientific & Medical Affairs Intern will work on running simulations and physical phantom experiments related to radiation therapy and medical imaging applications. This role will review and edit abstracts, publications, conference proceedings and other medical affair documents. This role will assist with research publications and in preparation of clinical trials.

What You Will Be Doing and Learning Objectives
  • Run simulations related to radiation therapy.
  • Help with physical phantom experiments.
  • Help with the testing of algorithms.
  • Work with patient data and clinical collaboration partners.
  • Be interested in writing manuscripts with our clinical collaboration partners and internal stake holders within the company.
  • The intern will gain hands-on knowledge of RefleXion and the medical device industry by working on projects in the following areas: Scientific Communications, Publication Planning, Medical Information
  • Will have the opportunity to research and disseminate key information to support commercial operations, marketing, and to develop resources to support medical affairs and sales.
  • Help with clinical trials.
  • Critically review abstracts, publications, and conference proceedings relevant to the RefleXion X1 machine
  • Support development of oral presentations and interactive educational tools
  • Participate in medical updates, scientific presentations, teleconferences, and meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Internship Duration: 3 months full-time when school is not in session. Possibility to extend part-time.

Where You Will Do This Internship
  • Hybrid - This position will allow the successful candidate to work on a Hybrid work location schedule. They must be based in the greater SF Bay Area and must be able to commute into the RefleXion office in Hayward 1-4 days a week, depending on the role.

  • Active high school student in good standing; must be rising junior or senior for 2024 academic school year
  • Interested in working in Radiation Therapy / Medical Imaging
  • Ability to use Unix and Mac computers
  • Excellent writing, reviewing and editing skills with a track record of attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong teamwork ethic
  • Multi-dimensional abilities to work on simultaneous tasks and work cross-team
  • Self-directed, intrinsically motivated, flexible to changes in an ever-changing dynamic environment

The pay range for this role is $17 - $19 per hour . Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
