The Director of IT Administration serves as a member of the IT leadership team reporting to the Vice President of IT Operations. Responsible for managing, organizing, and planning the activities of a functional unit within the IT Administration Office. Ensures appropriate enterprise-wide goals and objectives are developed and monitored. Ensures the availability and reliability of IT Administration Office services delivered to our customers. Manages the department staff in accomplishing the department's goals and objectives. Collaborates with all IT Division leadership for effective implementation of the priorities for each domain. Provides subject matter expertise to assigned areas of responsibility. Supports the VP of IT Operations directly in ensuring a best-in-class end user experience is created, including the go-forward patient front end support organization, setting a national standard for health systems nationally.

  • Leads all activities related to the department's service offering and enforces corporate standards. Manages a dynamic cross-functional team.
  • Develops vision, drives improvements, and influences change to mature the team's function and capabilities. Acts as key stakeholder in the ideation, rollout, and execution of the IT modernization roadmap.
  • Manages related operational and business activities in support of all IT divisions. Coordinates department activities with other IT departments. Regularly collaborates with internal and external stakeholders. Directly influences the success of new programs and strategic plans at Inova as they relate to IT administrative operations.
  • Supervises and administers hiring and firing, performance reviews and evaluations, staff
    counseling, etc. for the department.
  • Acts as consultants to other divisions or Inova service lines to determine business needs and strategies. Promotes the continued education, training, and refinement of the department staff.
  • Communicates appropriate corporate compliance standards and procedures for all department employees. Interprets and communicates policies/procedures and communicates relevant changes.
  • Manages operational areas. Identifies and drives improvement opportunities in key areas including but not limited to, adoption of agile practices, employee engagement and other department functions that support the overall division performance.
  • Participates as key member of IT team to promote internal collaboration and operational
    standards across the Division.
  • Serves as relationship bridge between IT division, Capital accounting, and IT Finance. Regularly coordinates high priority deliverables, including communication of highly visible financial information amongst executive level stakeholders.
  • Responsible for capital budget of both recapitalization and value creation projects for IT division- assisting in both business case creation, presentation, and subsequent project management.
  • Manages timely and accurate capital cash flows. Responsible for maximization of capitalization for IT's labor workforce. Responsible for divisional operating budget. Ensures cost center level compliance with variance reporting, and cost center level financial reviews.
  • Assists in application and budget rationalization of multiple integrated hospital sites, helping to align budgets to enterprise teams and achieve operational efficiencies and savings.
  • Creates line-item reporting to monitor expenses tying back to budgeted amount, utilizing TBM methodology. Implements Cloud FinOps discipline, standing up financial component of Cloud CCOE.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years of progressive IT related work experience
  • 3 years of leadership experience
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or related field. Or 4 years of additional, relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience analyzing multiple IT systems and leading through large integrations
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
