Shadin is seeking an experienced, hands-on, energetic Director of Quality that has experience with the FAA and AS9100. Key aspects of the position are to work in an avionics hardware and software product development environment.  This includes the oversight of product manufacturing tasks, supplier management, FAA/customer audits, and AS9100 ownership. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Quality Management System tools, methods and processes to assure products will be delivered on time with the lowest possible cost and highest level of Customer satisfaction.
  • Currently holds or is able to obtain DMIR (Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative) status through the FAA
  • Provide hands on leadership, motivate and develop a highly functional team to deliver quality process effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Conduct internal management reviews; work with other functions and operations to achieve targeted improvements measured by KPI matrix. Measure and report KPIs
  • Manage all audits, Customer, Supplier, third party and internal to ensure compliance to all applicable governing standards and specifications. Maintain all required certifications and accreditations.
  • Manage all key system related initiatives based on AS9100 Rev D, ISO 9001:2015 requirements including effective process controls, documentations, record keeping, suppliers quality assurance programs.
  • Knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI) processes based on AS9102
  • Provide guidance and training to internal personnel and suppliers to effectively execute Corrective Action Requests (inclusive of SCARs), Quality System requirements, Quality Alerts, Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAPA) implementation, change control and root cause analysis

Qualifications:

  • BS in engineering or quality assurance
  • DMIR certification, or is able to become certified
  • Experience in Aviation, with past interaction with the FAA or DoD
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a team with other departments to collectively meet the organization’s and customer’s needs
  • Experience in avionics manufacturing and quality assurance (AS9100)
  • Experience with aircraft systems, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, RTCA DO-178C / DO-254, DOORS, MIL-STD-461 / MIL-STD-810 / DO-160 is desired
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Has had direct reports is a plus
  • Demonstrated time management and project management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
