Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional qualifying coursework from an accredited college, university, technical institute or vocational school in electrical technology, mechanical technology, engineering or other related acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years. Possession of a certification by the National Certification Program for Construction Codes Inspectors (NCPCCI), the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) or the International Code Council (ICC) as a One and Two Family Electrical Inspector and an Electrical General Inspector must be obtained within 11 months of employment. A valid motor vehicle license must be required for employment in some positions Overview This classification has an average sized workload functioning at the trainee level accompanying certified electrical inspectors in performing electrical inspection work of considerable difficulty. An employee in this class is responsible for assisting certified electrical inspectors, learn to work with CORE (Comprehensive Online Regulatory and Enforcement System), and request/transfer inspections. This class differs from that of Electrical Inspector Intermediate in that an incumbent of the latter is certified and responsible for conducting electrical inspections. *An applicant appointed to this flexibly staffed class will be reclassified to Electrical Inspector Intermediate within the series after successful completion of a mandatory one-year training period and obtaining NCPCCI; inadequate or marginal performance during the training period will result in automatic demotion or termination. Responsibilities 1. Responds to entry level electrical inquires, policy, procedure, and TCA (Tennessee Code Annotated) for electrical contractors, issuing agents, power supply companies, homeowners, builders and those in the business community. Schedules electrical inspections in the CORE licensing system to ensure that timelines established by law and regulation are met. 2. Coaches electrical contractors and homeowners on CORE licensing system and how it operates. 3. Consults with state authorities to determine whether or not job falls under the authority of State Fire Marshal's Office. 4. Responds to inquiries regarding product approval by contacting a nationally recognized testing laboratory. 5. Attends contractors and semiannual meetings of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors and/or International Code Council. Attends semiannual Deputy Electrical Inspector meeting. Assist internal customers in the coordination of regional contractor meetings. 6. Moves objects and documents the status of electrical equipment. Installs smoke alarms. 7. Accompanies certified Electrical Inspector on inspections and site visits in order to learn how to interpret code and learn processes/procedures for inspections. 8. Works within the CORE system to reassign inspections, reassign inspector queues, close out inspections, and customer coordination with results. Competencies (KSA's) Competencies: 1.
