Your day to day as a City Recorder As the City Recorder at the City of Philomath, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Administration Department by performing a variety of routine, complex, and professional duties. Working closely with the City Manager and Assistant City Manager, you will oversee statutory obligations, maintain compliance with laws related to public meetings, records, and elections, and handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost care. This position demands a high level of independent judgment and responsibility, making it an exciting opportunity for professionals looking to make a meaningful impact in local government. Would you be a great City Recorder? To excel in the role of the City Recorder, candidates must possess a range of skills and knowledge. Essential qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, along with two years of additional education or experience specializing in administrative support or equivalent experience in business administration with a focus on public contact and customer service. Proficiency with contemporary office procedures and Microsoft Office Suite is necessary, as well as strong organizational abilities and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial, along with the capacity to build effective relationships with colleagues, officials, and the public. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: Oregon Notary Public designation or ability to obtain within six months Familiarity with contemporary office procedures and best practices Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail Experienced in building and sustaining effective working relationships with colleagues, other departments, officials, and the public Capable of managing stressful situations. Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English both verbally and in writing Capable of staying productive in an environment with frequent interruptions.
