Robotics Deployment Engineer

Location: Vineland, NJ, Full-Time, 4 days/wk on site with 1 flex remote day
As Zordi's first Deployment Engineer you lead advance deployments of a new fleet of autonomous harvesting and crop monitoring robots as they run their first long term production trials. These trials and experiments will test bleeding edge advancements in our harvesting, perception, and artificial intelligence systems as they are developed.
What you'll do
- Serve as the on-site robotic systems technical operations expert and facilitate communication with production, product management, and technical stakeholders about KPI progress and emerging issues
- Execute advance development experiments, collect datasets, analyze trail results and communicate outcomes or major learnings
- Perform root cause analysis to test and resolve operational issues and HW/SW bugs on prototype autonomous harvesting and scouting robots
- Design and implement SW feature improvements and HW revisions in the field and perform major SW updates or retrofits of new HW designs
- Develop new processes and standard methods to improve operational flow
- Bachelor's, associate's, or other 2 or 4 year degree program with focus in computer science, robotics, mechatronics, or a related field
- Hands on practical experience designing, debugging, and operating complex automated electro-mechanical systems, especially systems with moving parts
- Highly resourceful with a talent for rapidly identifying likely causes of failure and developing techniques for testing proposed fixes in isolation
- Ability to communicate about systems at multiple levels of abstraction
- Strong analytical thinking and organizational skills, with attention to detail
- Familiarity with Linux based operating systems, and basic terminal commands
- Python proficiency
- Familiarity with Docker
- Git proficiency
- Experience with project management or incident management tools and techniques (JIRA, Service Desk, PagerDuty, or similar)
- 2+ previous professional experience in maintenance, installation, or service work in a related (robotics or automation) industry
- Experience with mechanical or electrical assembly and documentation
- Rapid prototyping skills and basic electrical diagnosis
