You can also fill out your Work History in this application.About this PositionThe Distribution System Engineer and Associate positions are responsible for the engineering aspects of the design, construction, coordination/protection, and control systems of the electric distribution network. The engineer must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of substation and distribution system facilities and must achieve the implementation and execution of designs in collaboration with electric department personnel responsible for carrying out established designs, standards, and work practices. They will also be expected to maximize the versatility of facilities used to safely control the system for high reliability and efficiency.ResponsibilitiesDesign electrical power distribution systems in overhead and underground facilitiesPerform engineering studies (i.e., system planning, system protection, power quality analysis, transformer loading, voltage surveys) and prepare estimates and feasibility reports for projectsDevelop construction material specifications and evaluate new products to be used by the departmentReview and approve Pole Attachment Permit ApplicationsCollect and assimilate data derived from various periodic City reports to maintain information necessary to prepare responses to various outside agencies like FERC, DOE, EIA etc.Perform and/or direct installation, operation, maintenance, and updates of the SCADA system, AMI distribution automation, and other engineering systemsDevelop, implement, and review relay settings, control/logic schemes, metering networks, and fault/event record programsDevelop an in-depth understanding of the NESC, City/departmental, and other applicable standards and policies that affect the design and operation of the electrical distribution infrastructureQualificationsBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical degree from an ABET accredited universityFor an Associate: 2 years related experience and 7-11 months of related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experienceFor an Engineer: 5 years related experience and 4 years of related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experienceProficiency in AutoCAD (preferred)Registered Professional Engineers License for the State of Oklahoma (preferred)Experience in substation design & maintenance, SCADA systems, and/or Milsoft analysis software (preferred)Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPointValid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrierNecessary SkillsAdvanced mathematical abilityStrong critical thinking and problem solving skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailFlexibility to multitask and switch assignments throughout the dayStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to pass pre-employment screenings, including a physical and drug testBenefitsGenerous benefits package including health, vision, and dental insuranceAccess to a dedicated primary care medical clinic at no cost to employees and covered dependentsGenerous time off, paid holidays, longevity rewards, and retirement benefitsPaid parental leavePotential for bilingual payA tangible impact to Edmond Electric and residents in the City of EdmondA dynamic and inclusive environment where your contributions are valuedAPPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED.The City of Edmond is an equal opportunity employer.
