Senior Director, Quality Assurance ARC The Role This position reports to the ARC VP, Controller and holds responsibility, either directly or indirectly, for overseeing the core operational accounting functions of the ARC team. The role focuses on optimizing the shared service accounting environment and involves developing, implementing, revising, and maintaining quality standards for ARC and its upstream/downstream partners. The individual should possess expertise in designing and implementing methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the accuracy and timeliness of financial results. They will analyze current processes, identify gaps, and recommend and oversee corrective actions. You will have primary oversight for the outsourced ARC team. This individual will play a crucial role in providing leadership and support to the Accounting Leadership team of McKesson's shared service accounting. Leading and motivating a large, geographically diverse team will be essential to the success of this position. The individual should possess technical accounting competence, critical thinking abilities, leadership capabilities, and effective communication skills. Managing the demands of a complex, global public company environment while prioritizing the customer experience will be a key aspect of the role. Additionally, this role will drive ongoing automation and other transformation efforts within the organization, ensuring that processes are streamlined and optimized for maximum efficiency. Key Responsibilities Critical member of the ARC Leadership Team, FSS ELT, and Corporate Controllership. Leads the development and implementation of strategies, directions, and controls to effectively manage financial statement risks, including end-to-end process (upstream & downstream) and data risks, to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Provides oversight to audit and quality assurance functions within ARC, driving continuous improvement in processes and controls. In developing and implementing the necessary strategies, will need to work cross-functionally with different departments through senior leaders. Analyzes complex problems that require a thorough understanding of technical accounting, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations, and other regulatory obligations. Demonstrates an understanding of how processes and data across departments and vendors impact aspects of ARC operations. Responsibilities include conducting root cause analysis, driving process enhancements, and closely monitoring progress with vendors and cross-functional teams. Establishes and maintains metrics to measure accuracy, tracks errors occurring within ARC, and oversees the development and implementation of plans to address identified issues. Coordinates and executes various projects as assigned by the senior management team. Prepares and publishes reports documenting errors and compliance issues, and provides recommendations for potential solutions when appropriate. Independently handles problems of diverse scope, where the analysis of quality attributes and metrics necessitates evaluating identifiable factors. Collaborate and strengthen relationships with leaders of cross-functional corporate teams and business units to ensure efficient reporting processes across McKesson. Manages the performance and Service Level Agreement (SLA) for a geographically diverse team, including virtual team members located in India. Ensures that team members meet SLA targets and monitors their performance to ensure high-quality service delivery. Collaborates with the virtual team to address any issues or challenges and fosters effective communication and collaboration across the team. Implement process, system and internal control changes to ensure the month-end close processes are updated to incorporate impacts from M&A, divestitures, the adoption of new accounting standards, transformations and other changes. Actively mentor and develop team members in the department and create an environment that encourages an openness to transformation. Manage quarterly reviews and annual audits with external auditors in the relevant areas, providing requested schedules, information and other requests. Qualifications Minimum Requirements 13+ years of accounting and reporting experience. 6+ years of diversified leadership, team organization, and people motivation skills. Critical Skills Hands-on experience leading change and business/process transformation in a Shared Service environment of a large complex public company. Big-4 Firm audit or accounting advisory experience preferred. CPA required. Experience leading large, diverse teams in a Global Fortune 100 company setting. Experience working with a global outsource provider preferred. Strong communication skills including ability to present to Senior/Executive Leadership. Demonstrated ability to develop strong partnerships with facets of the organization to develop and execute plans, leveraging various teams across the organization. Excellent team building skills, strategic problem-solving skills, strong project and resource management skills, analytical and conceptual thinking skills. Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and internal control environments. Education Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
