EMPLOYMENT
TERM: Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment days may be established by HCBOE

SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Hampshire County Teacher Salary Schedule,
commensurate with experience and education level plus competitive benefits package
equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and HCBOE Evaluation Policy

JOB SUMMARY: Provide support to administrator to plan the athletic program and supervise all athletic events at the school

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in implementation of all county and school athletic policies and procedures developed for Hampshire County students and staff
  • Attend and supervise athletic events as assigned by principal
  • Schedule all athletic events that occur for the school's athletic teams
  • Provide information regarding required physical examinations to students, and announce dates that community doctors offer exams; Ensure that all athletes have completed physical exams before any practices/before participating in a sport
  • Administer athletic insurance program and process all reports and claims in cooperation with the athletic trainer. Ensure that all athletes have insurance.
  • Assure that all student athletes maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Establish all requirements for eligibility to participate in athletics as approved by the principal and in accordance with WVSSAC.
  • Coordinate transportation for athletic events and practices with the county transportation department
  • Coordinate use of and maintenance of all athletic facilities and fields at the school/or used by school's athletes
  • Check for safety and health concerns and recommend improvements to principal
  • Prepare the athletic fund budget as approved by principal
  • Ensure that necessary equipment is purchased within the guidelines of the budget and following purchasing procedures
  • Work within guidelines of WVSSAC and coordinate all WVSSAC activities and requests
  • Secure registered officials and game helpers as needed. Arrange schedule with game officials and visiting teams
  • Oversee athletic program and coordinate staff development and coaching duties for coaching staff.
  • Supervise all ticket sales and fundraising activities
  • Work with media for publicity of athletic events
  • Coordinate sectional tournaments, if applicable
  • Arrange lodging for athletes and coaches for overnight trips, if applicable
  • Be responsible to administer home games
  • Require coaches and players to follow WVSSAC, county, and school policies
  • Assure compliance with all Title IX physical education and athletic requirements
  • Hold meetings for coaches prior to or at the beginning of each sport season
  • Maintain the school athletic rules guide
  • Recruit coaches
  • Meet professional responsibilities
  • Maintain professional work habits and adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct
  • Implement any other programs designated by principal for school improvement
  • Include supervisory and/or other duties as assigned by Principal


QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate; Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Most commonly, the educational setting is indoors with outdoor settings for recess and field trip activities. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20-60dB).
