About the Role:
As the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the engineering workforce in the organization. This role involves strategic planning, team management, project execution, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes that achieve the company's key objectives. The Director of Engineering plays a critical role in driving innovation, product development, and maintaining the technical excellence of the company. This role reports to the Vice President of Engineering.
About You:
15+ years of experience in software engineering building software products, with at least 5 years in people management
Must have the right combination of technology experience and people management
Must have the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Program Management, UX, and Analytics teams
Must have excellent communication skills – both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
Experience in working with peers, stakeholders, and partners across different geographies and time zones
Ability to translate highly complex technical requirements into easily digestible and actionable plans
Experience preparing & delivering executive level presentations to business and technology audiences
Ability to lead and manage technical individual contributors across all levels with the ability to foster open communications across the organization
Ability to motivate direct and indirect reports to deliver superior results.
Ability to provide functional and directional guidance to engineers and recommend policy or strategic direction changes to management.
Experience in leading development projects using agile methodologies
Experience with Cloud native and MERN stack would be essential
Experience in the Commerce domain will be a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the long-term vision, goals, and strategies aligned with the company's overall mission.
Lead technical discussions, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence on decision-making
Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Establish project priorities, allocate resources, and track progress to meet milestones and deadlines.
Build and nurture high performing teams
Ensure the adoption of best practices, quality standards, and maintain technical excellence in product development.
Provide technical guidance and expertise to solve complex problems and address challenges as they arise.
Collaborate with product management, design, and other departments to prioritize and align engineering efforts with an eye on business objectives.
Facilitate effective communication and coordination across cross-functional teams.
Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure product reliability and performance.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to guide technology choices and investments.
Identify and mitigate technical and project risks that may impact product development or company goals.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on the performance and progress
