The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church.Job SummaryThe Development Director fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by planning, guiding, and evaluating the development efforts of the school in fundraising, marketing, event planning, grant writing, communication, alumni affairs and public relations. The Development Director has decision making responsibilities within essential job functions, in keeping with school policies. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal.Essential DutiesSupports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the schoolActs as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic ChurchSupports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and DioceseMaintains confidentiality regarding school mattersPlans the overall development program in keeping with school needs, the Strategic Plan and budget objectivesCollaborates effectively with the principal, Development Committee, school associations, committee chairs and volunteersOversees Development staff in a manner that ensures effective and efficient practices, and customer-focused work habitsEnsures effective work practices in financial accounting and reconciliation, database management, gift recording, donor acknowledgement and stewardshipMaintain records on current and prospective donorsEnsures that practices are in compliance with school, Diocesan, city, county and state regulationsCommunicates effectively with the faculty and staff and keeps them informed of upcoming development activitiesMeet staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese/local administrationDemonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habitsCollaborates with others to enhance the work environment.Conferences with others upon request and responds to messages in a timely mannerDemonstrates gains in development goals and objectives that are in keeping with the Strategic plan and budget objectives, and a willingness to respond to program needsServes as a member of the Endowment Committee as requestedAttends and participates as needed in faculty meetings as well as professional and community organizationsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic ChurchKnowledge of a broad range of development activitiesKnowledge of development softwareAble to communicate effectively both in written and verbal formAble to work well with others in the school communitySkill in handling multiple tasks simultaneouslySkill in organizing and relating information in an understandable formatSkill in job appropriate technologySkill in critical thinking and planningMinimum QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degreeExperience:Development or related field preferredCertifications and Training:Must submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Application for Ministry within the first week of employment, participate in an EIM Basic abuse prevention training workshop within 60 days of submitting a complete Application for Ministry, and maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment.#J-18808-Ljbffr
