The Database Engineer will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic association environment. Primary responsibilities will include leading the effort to develop an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and implementing and maintaining the Associations business intelligence applications. The EDW will serve as the first unified data model for the organization contributing to large scale data analysis. The incumbent will work closely with management and peers to recommend and develop database architecture plans and implement changes that facilitate the security, auditability, and conformance of data governance standards for data assets and across all system environments.
You will lead the effort to develop a unified data model for the association. Working closely with the technical management team, ensure that the database systems are accounted for and are contributing to the information maintained in the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and associated data marts. Working collaboratively with the business stakeholders, identify and implement changes to the EDW and associated data marts as new data or new data sources are identified and integrated within the environment. Implement procedures that identify and resolve data reporting inconsistencies, decrease the time required to adopt data systems based on evolving business needs, and improves the overall data architecture for the Associations.
You will also champion efforts that will ensure that the Associations business intelligence applications remain relevant for use by internal business groups by actively participating in strategy and project planning discussions held with the business stakeholders and contracted vendors regarding new program initiatives. Design, develop and maintain ETL (extract, transform, and load) pipelines using SSIS that standardize raw data from multiple sources and optimize both the operational and dimensional/star schema data model necessary for transactional systems and business intelligence applications. Identify and recommend changes to database architecture and associated ETL processes ensuring that the Associations databases support new business requirements and facilitate future analytical and data reporting needs. Assist the technology management team with the configuration of database-driven applications and related tasks.
As a Database Engineer, you will provide leadership and oversight on database architectural design for existing systems including database administration, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting. Actively monitor data system performance, reporting on observations, recommending and implementing performance related changes. Evaluate and implement solutions that improve performance, create efficiencies, and reduce costs for the organization. Develop and maintain comprehensive database documentation including entity relationship diagrams (ERD), data dictionary, business glossary, and assist with maintaining the business data object model.
You will design and create custom data structures, stored procedures, views, indexes, and connections that facilitate the needs of data-related initiatives and projects. Design, maintain and implement Disaster Recovery strategies for critical business servers. Develop and enforce database security standards and best practices including performance, security, monitoring policies and procedures. Conduct operational tasks in the administration of database systems and infrastructure ensuring that security, backup, and maintenance functional needs are met.
