Job Overview:

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Stores is responsible for leading the Party City store network across the United States with a clear focus on driving sales results and productivity for the 700+ store organization. He or she will build and lead a team of high-performing regional leaders who are responsible for achieving financial results, hiring, retaining and motivating store teams. Importantly he or she will embark on a transformation of the store culture - leading the charge to shift associates away from labor- and task-focused activities and toward meaningful interactions with customers that ultimately drive sales and engagement. In addition, this individual will participate with the senior leadership team in formulating the overall retail strategy and developing specific operational strategies.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assume accountability for the business performance of the stores organization, including delivery performance.
  • Elevate the customer experience and create a more impactful, sales-driven culture within the stores.
  • Ensure the required people, processes and controls are in place to guarantee success.
  • Build a culture focused on selling and operating excellence that is present throughout the organization. Build associate engagement and provide training on best practices.
  • Lead and foster development of the direct report team to create a positive, cascading effect.
  • Foster a strong sense of urgency within the direct report team to drive success, results, and a deeply rooted customer experience orientation.
  • Develop and achieve appropriate strategies, plans, forecasts, and budgets. Ensure that proper management and operational resources are in place to deliver the agreed-upon strategy and budgets.
  • Function as a fully engaged and contributing member of the executive team, using broad business expertise and leadership, sound judgment and industry knowledge to help set strategic and operational direction, and take actions required to achieve business results.
  • Collaborates and engages with functional leaders who enable store performance (marketing, merchandising, inventory planning) to ensure that tools, systems and processes are simple and amplify store outcomes.

  • Holds people accountable for their commitments, providing clarity and outlining in advance ramifications of failure.
Requirements

Skills Required:

The SVP, Stores will be a skilled sales leader and exceptional multi-unit operator who can create followership. He or she will come from environment that is progressive and bring a strong sense for how retail environments can engage customers through a consultative, sales-oriented approach. This executive will understand that transforming customer experience starts with sales associate interaction and supporting sales-oriented best practices and processes. He or she will have a track record of successfully leading and engaging with a geographically dispersed workforce with excitement and enthusiasm.
  • Transform the stores organization by building a sales and customer experience focused culture.
  • Ensure store standards and processes are in place that lead to increased customer engagement, resulting in delivering sales goals and a compelling, solution-oriented customer experience.
  • Lead the field team in the implementation of a variety of omni-initiatives.
  • Create a work environment that attracts top talent and cultural diversity.
Qualifications:
  • Experienced senior operating executive with expertise in leadership, operations and sales
  • Experience in a high touch sales-oriented retail environment ideal.
  • Significant experience leading field-based multi-unit retail teams across multiple geographies within the U.S.
  • Experience in a senior leadership, headquarters-based role is a plus.
  • Experience leading a retail organization through a cultural transformation toward selling and enhanced customer experience
  • Has developed and successfully implemented customer-focused strategies that have resulted in increased top and bottom-line growth while maintaining a high degree of operational excellence.
