SMC Phlebotomist Organization: South Shore Health Requisition Number: R-20995 Facility: LOC0012 - SSMC Womens Ctr Med Surg 51 Performance Drive, Weymouth, MA 02189 Department: SMC Phlebotomy Status: Full time Budgeted Hours: 40 Shift: Day (United States of America) Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30 4:00, weekend rotation, 1 holiday annually Responsibilities Perform phlebotomy (venipuncture, fingerstick, and heelstick) according to established procedures Use correct venipuncture technique to minimize patient discomfort Perform fingerstick procedures when venipuncture is unsuccessful Perform heelstick on babies with correct technique Identify patients and label specimen tubes accurately, using patient armband and medical record number Generate and manage collection lists (NCC), add or cancel tests as needed Prioritize STAT draws and ensure timely transport of specimens to the lab for testing Utilize the Automated Patient Identification system and handheld device for order entry and labeling Use computers to complete assigned functions and validate information accuracy Maintain neatness and cleanliness of equipment and work areas, including daily temperature recording of refrigerators Assist colleagues and communicate with laboratory departments to ensure workflow efficiency Participate in training new employees and student interns under supervision Provide receptionist duties, greet patients, answer phones in outpatient lab as required Enforce safety and infection control practices, wear PPE as required, and dispose of waste properly Maintain stock in Phlebotomy rooms and drawing rooms, and ensure safety awareness per Hospital policies Job Requirements Equivalent of four (4) years of high school education preferred One (1) year of full?time phlebotomy experience preferred Certified or eligible with National Phlebotomy Association preferred Ability to perform phlebotomy in a fast?paced environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Compensation: $19.44 - $26.17 per hour #J-18808-Ljbffr
