**Position Overview**

Navistar Interiors and Drivers Environment engineering team has an exciting opportunity for Project Engineer. This position is in the Interiors and Drivers Environment department within the Global Body Engineering group. Project Engineer serve as a central resource for the delivery of Interior and Drivers Environment systems. This is a mid-senior level engineering position that will oversee multiple aspects within Product Design and Development process.

In this position, you will develop and implement innovative systems and solutions that customers will rely on in the next generation of Navistar vehicles. The role will also support sustaining projects including current product manufacturing and field issues root causing and determining engineering resolutions. The individual will provide support during system and vehicle validation as well as travel to test facilities and build events at manufacturing facilities. They will work with Supplier Quality, Tooling and Purchasing as projects moves through program gates from concept to production. Involvement may last throughout all stages of a products lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.

**Role and Responsibilities:**

* Ability to perform as a Team Lead

* Responsibilities include leading concept design, detailed design and development, and release of Interiors parts for new products

* Will work with different systems such as Instrument Panels, Seating systems, Steering Wheels, Door Trims, Hard Trims, Soft Trims, Bunks, Plastic and Rubber parts etc.

* Learn new Technologies and incorporate into products

* Work closely with Industrial Design team for Surface and Texture development

* Work closely with Ergonomics team

* Ability to guide and mentor lesser experienced Team members

* Engineering support for current production concerns

* CAD model and print generation in UG-NX/Team Center environment

* Support supplier requested design changes and help resolve quality concerns with guidance from experienced engineering team member

* Creation of DFMEAs and DVPs with guidance

* Work closely with Program teams to follow Product Development Process to delivery designs

**Basic Requirements**

* Bachelors degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

* At least 5 years of experience in product design/development

OR

* Masters degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

* At least 3 years of experience in product design/development

OR

* PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology

**Additional Requirements**

* Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

**Desired Skills**

* Prior experience with Plastics design and Plastics manufacturing process

* Prior experience designing parts for Injection molding, Reaction injection molding, Thermoforming or Rubber components

* Experience using Unigraphics UG-NX or any CAD related modeling software

* Ability to work in a team environment; to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects

* Ability to formulate timing plans and project plans

* Experience with design quality tools such as:

+ Failure Modes Effects Analysis (DFMEA) & DVP

+ Design for Manufacturing

+ Design for Assembly

+ Dimensional Management (GD&T)

* Good communication skills

* Ability to manage multiple tasks

* Critical thinking and problem solving

* Good at taking initiatives
